New Year

In honor of the new year, I have reorganized and refreshed the pile of books on my bedside table.  I hope that by the end of the year I will make it through these and learn more about some of the topics they cover.  There are a few others that I didn't put in the pile yet -- a book for learning spanish, a guide book to Costa Rica, M.F.K. Fisher's The Art of Eating, and, most likely, a number of good works of fiction.  Although sometimes the middle of winter, just past the solstice, seems like an arbitrary time to change the date and set about making plans for self improvement, I am glad for this moment of reflection.  Snow has been falling here for a couple of days and I've spent most of this time inside, organizing and cleaning here and there, relaxing, considering the year (and decade) that has finished, and thinking about the one to come.  2009 was a year of bustling activity, settling in, and being deeply content.  2010 promises big changes and adventures and, I hope, learning new things and continuing to work on projects such as this blog.  I am planning some updates and changes to the bones of this site in the next week or so, but I'll soon be back to posting more.  Thanks for reading and I hope you'll continue on the adventure with me in the coming year!
